New Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe

This is the church where the Original Tilma, the Ayate on which Our Lady of Guadalupe imprinted herself in 1531, is located. To view the image as closely as possible, you must pass under the altar through the conveyor belts that take you beneath the sacred image.

During ordinary times (except December 12), you can walk around the column where the Original Tilma is hung and go up the conveyor belts as many times as you need; simply walk around the pillar behind the Tilma and step onto the conveyor belt.

The Holy Mass at this Basilica is held every hour Monday to Sunday:

Main Altar:
6 am, 7 am, 7:45am

Lauds:
8:30 am 9 am, 10 am, 11 am, 12 pm, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm

6 pm, Novenas for the Deceased.
However, from Monday to Thursday, there is also the Holy Hour and the Holy Rosary at 5 pm.

It is open from Monday to Sunday, from 6 am to 9 pm.

The schedule may change due to a special feast, a large pilgrimage, or new rules from the Cabildo.

In this Shrine, you will also find:

1.- A relic of Joselito (San José Sánchez del Río, the Mexican young Cristero Martyr from Sahuayo, Michoacán)

2.- A relic of Saint Carlo Acutis (italian young man which body is incorrupt in Italy), and

3.- The Blessed Holy Crucifix from the Bombing Attempt (a bomb was placed in front of the altar of the Old Basilica to destroy the Tilma during the Cristero War in 1921, but tradition says that this Blessed Holy Crucifix vended to hold the damage of the explosion and keep the altar and the image of our Blessed Mother intact).

Don’t forget to visit the Tabernacle (where the Blessed Sacrament is kept) and the Chapel of Saint Joseph (where you will see a huge painting of him embracing the Church (Priests and Deacons) with his cloak).

We recommend you to ONLY purchase souvenirs at the Shrine’s (this way, you avoid carrying counterfeit or low-quality images).

It’s worth mentioning that the Main Altar was made from the rock of Tepeyac, and it is consecrated with the relic of our Blessed Miguel Agustín Pro (we continue to ask for his intercession for a new miracle, 2024).
