This is the “spiritual” Church, on the floor you will see metal flowers that suggest the boundary that years ago marked an old church. Tradition says that our Blessed Mother stopped St. Juan Diego exactly in this place during the last Apparition.
To identify this place, you will see a stone column with three sculpted rocks that indicate where the Holy Altar of the Chapel of the Roses once stood. At the top, you will find a stone image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
In this Spiritual Chapel, Our Mother intercepted St. Juan Diego, heard his weeping and sadness because his uncle was ill.
In this place, Our Mother:
1.- Said to Saint Juan Diego:
“Listen. Put it into your heart, my youngest and dearest son, that the thing that frightened you, the thing that afflicted you is nothing: do not let it disturb you; do not fear this sickness or any other sickness, nor any sharp and hurtful thing.
Am I not here, I who has the honor and joy to be your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need something more?
Let nothing else worry you, disturb you; do not let your uncle’s illness pressure you with grief, because he will not die of it now. You may be certain that he is already well.”
(Nican Mopohua v. 119 y 120)
In this spot She embraced us as Her children. Then Our Lady fulfilled Her promises to Saint Juan Diego: and (a) to present us with her son Jesus, (b) to listen to our weeping, sorrow, crying, sadness and despair, and (c) to remedy it.
2.- Then Our Lady said:
“Go up, my dearest son, to the top of the hill, to where you saw me and I told you what to do; 126. There you will see that there are different kinds of flowers: cut them, gather them, put them all together; then come down here; bring them here, into my presence.” (Nican Mopohua v. 125 y 126)
Our Blessed Mother gave Saint Juan Diego the roses that were this sign to be given to the Bishop.
3.- In this location, Our Lady gave to Saint Juan Diego Her absolute trust.
